Working hours:

Shops and department stores are open from 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.; on Saturdays 8:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. Some stores close between noon and 4:00 p. m. Many stores are open on Sundays, especially in the summer, and some stores work 24/7. Public services and companies usually work form 8:30 to 4.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Patrol stations are open from 7:00 a.m-10:00 p.m. There is always one patrol station in a town open 24 hours a day.

Banks are generally open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and from 8:00a.m.-12:00 noon on Saturday.

Post offices are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, in smaller centres from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.; some offices work a split shift. In most towns and tourist centres, on-duty post offices are open on Saturdays and Sundays until 9 p.m.

Transportation:

By Car - Traveling by car is a great way to visit Croatia, because it gives you the freedom to explore. There are numerous places and towns to be seen and a variety of things to be done.

By Sea - There are international and coastal ferry lines. Jadrolinija is the main Croatian passenger ferry company, with the highest number of regular international and domestic lines. The other Croatian shipping and freight agency is Jadroagent Ltd. Other agencies operate along the Croatian coast during summer.

By Air - Traveling by plane is a convenient and comfortable way to visit Croatia. Many European companies have regular flights to Zagreb. Croatia Airlines, Croatian national carrier, provides regular flights to other Croatian cities. If you are arriving on a regular flight, there are regular buses departing from the airport to the city centers.

By Rail - The rail network connects all major Croatian cities, except Dubrovnik. There are direct lines to Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina and other countries. Indirect lines also exist, connecting Croatia to almost all other European countries.

Currency: Kuna (1 Kuna = 100 Lipa). There are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 Lipa coins, 1, 2, 5 and 25 Kuna coins and 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 Kuna banknotes.

Electricity: Voltage of city power grid – 220V, frequency 50HZ Water: Tap water is potable throughout Croatia. Time zone: GMT plus one hour in winter and GMT plus two in summer.

Travel documentation: Passport or some other internationally recognised identification document. Tourists may remain in Croatia for up to three months.
